The Angel Breaks Foundation 

The Angel Breaks Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families coping with illness enjoy a vacation. The objective of Angel Breaks is to fulfill the lives of children affected with illness with a week of enjoyment and a break from the reality of their circumstances. This holds true for their siblings and their parents.

As the Founder of Angel Breaks, I would like to explain the background of the organization. Doing business in the resort area year after year, I have witnessed many homes remain vacant summer after summer. These homes are unoccupied during the height of the "beach season", which is June through September.  The property owners mainly keep the homes for investment purposes or overflow guests during holiday weekends.

It is very disconcerting to have properties within walking distance to the ocean go unused summer after summer. I have a nephew who is four years old, perfectly healthy and happy. Bethany Beach is one of his most treasured places. He has experienced what some children may never get the opportunity to do so. And he talks of it constantly.  He asks Santa for sand toys. He can't wait to for summer, just to come to the beach. In his four years, he has realized that the beach is not just the ocean and some sand. But it is the place where families gather, children play, and for one week the normalcy of the world stops and turns to magic. And that magic is not realized by everyone, but those who have realized it do understand it. And they are willing to share it.

I approached some of my clients and local business owners with the idea of The Angel Breaks Foundation. The concept was received with overwhelming support and enthusiasm to give back to the community, the special place their families have gathered for years, and hope to gather for years to come. The main source of homes for Angel Breaks Familes are donated from current property owners. These property owners are willing to donate one week up to an entire summer season to the Angel Breaks Families.  We are currently working with DC and area hospitals as well as many local businesses to gather support and funds for the foundation.
